Friends since school, Anthony Aubert & Jean-Charles Mathieu challenged themselves to create a range of wines in their image, by bringing a touch of originality and modernity to their cuvées. Created in 2018, they are part of an eco-conscious approach, more transparent and more sustainable. This commitment is evident from the vine to the bottle with organic cuvées or in conversion.
Carbon neutrality is the brand’s primary commitment.

A blend of the Eden Valley vineyard and two vineyards in the Barossa Valley, this Reserve Shiraz was fermented in separate parcels, then pressed and left in stainless steel for malolactic fermentation, after which it was racked into barrel for approximately 12 months maturation in new and old French and American oak. The best barrels were then blended and filtered for bottling and a dash of High Eden Shiraz was added for extra complexity and spice.

Although it is classified only as a Cru Bourgeois, it regularly outperforms many of the Médoc’s more renowned classed growths. There are numerous stories trying to explain the name of Chateau Chasse Spleen. The first version is that the name was inspired from a visit by Lord Byron in 1821, which was so moved, that he quoted, “Quel remede pour chasser le spleen”, which when loosely translated means, “What remedy to remove the spleen?”. The other equally poetic explanation is attributed to the poem Spleen, whose author Charles Baudelaire also visited Château Chasse-Spleen.
