Casas del Bosque Gran Reserva Syrah

Juan Cúneo Solari founded Casas del Bosque in 1993, at a time when the Chilean wine industry was pursuing quantity over quality. All fruit of this cool climate Syrah was sourced from vineyards located within the coolest, westernmost reaches of the Casablanca Valley.
A blend of 11 to 16 year old vines sourced from hillside blocks with northern exposure, planted on 110 million year old decomposed granite with a thin topsoil of red, iron-rich clay.

APPEARANCE
Deep garnet in colour with a purple hue.

NOSE
A cooler vintage that showcases more the dark fruits instead of the red ones. Black
olives and meaty notes well combine with tertiary scent of goudron and toffee. A floral note, reminiscent of violet, shows up after some second from opening.

PALATE
Vibrant, alive, elegant cool climate Syrah. Smooth tannins with a clean and a clean finish. Will reward careful cellaring.

AGEING
The wine was drained to French oak barrels (20% new) for 12 months.

PAIRING
Fatty meat such as lamb ribs or lamb shank, accompanied with roasted potatoes and rosemary and pepper.
