1924 Whisky Barrel Aged French Blend

The year was 1924. It was the heart of the Prohibition Era and wine’s darkest hour when it was outlawed and deemed unconstitutional. It was also the year the Delicato family first planted vineyards in California and farmed grapes that were sold to friends and neighbors.

Crafted with rich, dark fruit aged in Premium Whiskey Barrels, the grapes for the Whiskey Barrel-aged French Blend were picked at optimal ripeness based on winemaker evaluation, vineyard condition and an eye on weather. The fruit is harvested in the cool of the night and delivered to the winery to be destemmed into fermentation tanks. Once the wine is made, a portion is aged in Whiskey barrels, imparting classically smooth vanilla, toasty oak notes to the structured blend.

Blason d’Issan Margaux AOC (Château d’Issan GCC 2nd wine)

The history of Château d’Issan consists primarily of a long list of property transmissions and legacies. By inheritance and marriage, the estate has been handed down from owner to owner, and all of them have contributed in their own way to its renown and helped to forge its unique character. Over a period of nearly three centuries, the estate was passed down along a line involving a number of families with names such as Noailhan, Meyrac, Ségur, Salignac, de la Vergne, Escodeca de Boisse, etc. From 1575 onwards, the property was owned by five generations of the Essenault family, who ended up renaming it, contracting their name to “Issan” and thus Château d’Issan was born…

Blason d’Issan, the second wine, was introduced from 1995 onwards to enable selection amongst our vines growing in the Margaux appellation area. Fruit from the youngest vines is used to produce this wine, which respects the identity of its terroir, while offering a tasty round fruitiness, which can be enjoyed earlier.

Château Cap Léon Veyrin Cru Bourgeois Listrac-Médoc

Family owned since 1810, the Château Cap Léon Veyrin originates from the meeting of Château Cap Léon and the Veyrin estate. Cape comes from the word “head”. In fact, the vineyards of Cap Léon are located on the highest points of Listrac-Médoc, favoring natural drainage and ideal sunshine. Nathalie and Julien Meyre, are the 6th generation of the family running this property, perpetuate the tradition: predominance of Merlot, collage with egg white, aging of 12 months in barrels, manual harvesting for young parcels and for old vines, while bringing their dynamism to this renowned Cru Bourgeois Supérieur du Médoc.

Château Chasse-Spleen Moulis en Médoc Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel AOC

Château Chasse-Spleen is the leading Moulis estate along with Château Poujeaux. Although it is classified only as a Cru Bourgeois, it regularly outperforms many of the Médoc’s more renowned classed growths. There are numerous stories trying to explain the name of Chateau Chasse Spleen. The first version is that the name was inspired from a visit by Lord Byron in 1821, which was so moved, that he quoted, “Quel remede pour chasser le spleen”, which when loosely translated means, “What remedy to remove the spleen?”. The other equally poetic explanation is attributed to the poem Spleen, whose author Charles Baudelaire also visited Château Chasse-Spleen.
A very elegant, fresh and classical wine with a lot of energy and drive on the finish with great aging potential.

Château Cos Labory Saint-Estèphe Grand Cru Classé AOC

Past Château Lafite, then up the small hill of stones, the locals call “Caux”, to Cos d’Estournel and its discrete neighbour Château Cos Labory.
The name of the estate comes from its geographical location on the Cos hill and the name of François Labory, who was the first owner until 1845. Mr. d’Estournel then acquired it before selling it again to an English banker, Charles Martyns in 1852. The property was finally taken over by George Weber in the 1930’s, who bequeathed it to his daughter and son-in-law, François Audoy in 1959. In 1971, the couple acquired the neighbouring estate, Château Andron Blanquet, until their elder son Bernard took over, now the emblematic symbol of the estate, having always lived in Saint-Estèphe.
Over time, the changes came gradually through substantial investment into technology, particularly an ultra-modern vat house and a new cellar. Having decided to vinify the wines at low temperatures to preserve and extract the fruit, their aim is to offer wines that age well but are also enjoyable when still young. Château Cos Labory combines characteristic Saint-Estèphe vigour and elegance and its rich tannin content gives this wine good ageing potential.

Château D’Armailhac Pauillac Grand Cru Classé AOC

The origins of  Château d’Armailhac date back to 1750. At that time, the vineyard was called “ Mouton d’Armailhacq ”. Fifth Cru Classé in 1855, Château d’Armailhac shines on the lands of Pauillac. In 1931, the young Baron Philippe de Rothschild became a minority shareholder in the Mouton d’Armailhacq estate company. Subsequently, the château will become the entire property of the Baron Philippe de Rothschild company. In 1989, Baroness Philippine de Rothschild decided to rename the estate with its original name: Château d’Armailhac.

With that wealth of complementary terroirs, each grape variety can be grown in conditions that enable it to achieve its full qualitative potential. Likewise, their diversity helps to moderate the potential weather-related excesses of certain years. This unique characteristic of Château d’Armailhac is reflected in an elegant classicism that is a regular feature of the wine’s style, whatever the vintage.

Although yields were less than generous, the quality of the wines suggests that the 2020 vintage will be one of the great successes of the decade.

Château du Tertre Margaux Grand Cru Classé AOC

Château du Tertre takes its name from the superb group of graves, culminating point of the Margaux appellation, on which is erected the castle. This millennial property of 52 hectares (of which 18 are grown biodynamic) enjoys worldwide renown thanks to the prestigious Grand Cru Classé de Margaux title it has had since 1855.
The arrival of Eric Albada-Jelgersma, the current owner, in 1997 will profoundly mark the field. A restructuring program and heavy investments have restored its reputation to Château du Tertre. This program has resulted in upgrading technical equipment, reducing yields and setting up a new team. Under the direction of Alexander Van Beek ,Eric Boissenot for winemaking, the vineyard has significantly increased the quality of these wines, giving Château du Tertre its character and nobility, where silky and freshness are combined to bring you the elegance expected of a great Margaux wine.

Château Giscours Grand Cru Classé AOC

Château Giscours is one of the largest properties in the Médoc. The vineyard’s soil consists of gravel on sandy-gravelly subsoil. The exceptional terroir benefits from all of the factors necessary for the production of high quality wines: good orientation, very warm soil in the spring, root permeability, fertility, and regulation of the water supply in the summer. After family and financial difficulties, the property was taken over by Dutch businessman Eric Albada-Jelgersma in 1995. Since then, under the management of the enthusiast Alexander Van Beek, who has accomplished huge work both in the vines and cellar, the château has been brought back to former glory.

Giscours’ wines are concentrated, generous and rich, with well-integrated tannins. Particularly seductive when young, they have a potential to age for several years in good vintages.
