Château Clerc Milon Pauillac Grand Cru Classé AOC

2021, 2015, 2016

Château Clerc Milon Pauillac Grand Cru Classé AOC

Tied to the Seigneuries of Lafite and Mouton (future First Classified Growths belonging to two different branches of the Rothschild family), Château Clerc Milon derives its name from its historic owners, the Clerc family, who acquired it when it was sold as a national asset after the French Revolution.

Today, the third generation, represented by Camille and Philippe Sereys de Rothschild and Julien de Beaumarchais de Rothschild, perpetuates Baron Philippe de Rothschild’s values and expertise and continues to develop Château Clerc Milon with the same dynamism and desire for modernity. Thanks to over 50 years of continuous work and a dedicated team with cutting-edge technical facilities, Château Clerc Milon is more than ever a benchmark of Médoc excellence.

2015 vintage in Pauillac is very similar in its heft and opulence to the 2005 vintage. The wines immediately showed plenty of colour and a complete array of very intense aromas ranging from red and black fruit to spice and incense.

Château Cos Labory Saint-Estèphe Grand Cru Classé AOC

2017

Château Cos Labory Saint-Estèphe Grand Cru Classé AOC

Past Château Lafite, then up the small hill of stones, the locals call “Caux”, to Cos d’Estournel and its discrete neighbour Château Cos Labory.
The name of the estate comes from its geographical location on the Cos hill and the name of François Labory, who was the first owner until 1845. Mr. d’Estournel then acquired it before selling it again to an English banker, Charles Martyns in 1852. The property was finally taken over by George Weber in the 1930’s, who bequeathed it to his daughter and son-in-law, François Audoy in 1959. In 1971, the couple acquired the neighbouring estate, Château Andron Blanquet, until their elder son Bernard took over, now the emblematic symbol of the estate, having always lived in Saint-Estèphe.
Over time, the changes came gradually through substantial investment into technology, particularly an ultra-modern vat house and a new cellar. Having decided to vinify the wines at low temperatures to preserve and extract the fruit, their aim is to offer wines that age well but are also enjoyable when still young. Château Cos Labory combines characteristic Saint-Estèphe vigour and elegance and its rich tannin content gives this wine good ageing potential.

The owners wanted to create buildings that would look as though they had always been there. As a result, Château d’Armailhac blends seamlessly into the Pauillac winegrowing landscape.

Typically for a Pauillac wine, Cabernets predominate in the blend. However, the relatively high proportion of Cabernet Franc is a hallmark of Château d’Armailhac. The wine is defined by a kind of elegant classicism, discernible whatever the vintage.

Château d’Issan Margaux Grand Cru Classé AOC

2022

Château d’Issan Margaux Grand Cru Classé AOC

The history of Château d’Issan consists primarily of a long list of property transmissions and legacies. By inheritance and marriage, the estate has been handed down from owner to owner, and all of them have contributed in their own way to its renown and helped to forge its unique character. Over a period of nearly three centuries, the estate was passed down along a line involving a number of families with names such as Noailhan, Meyrac, Ségur, Salignac, de la Vergne, Escodeca de Boisse, etc. From 1575 onwards, the property was owned by five generations of the Essenault family, who ended up renaming it, contracting their name to “Issan” and thus Château d’Issan was born…

This exceptional 2022 vintage can be characterised by intense fruit nuances, balance, depth of aromatics, and definition of tannins, presented in a particularly bright and vibrant colour, with magnificent concentration and refined power. The Cabernets and the Malbec are once again remarkable – giving this new opus a unique signature.

Château Giscours Grand Cru Classé AOC

2014

Château Giscours Grand Cru Classé AOC

Château Giscours is one of the largest properties in the Médoc. The vineyard’s soil consists of gravel on sandy-gravelly subsoil. The exceptional terroir benefits from all of the factors necessary for the production of high quality wines: good orientation, very warm soil in the spring, root permeability, fertility, and regulation of the water supply in the summer. After family and financial difficulties, the property was taken over by Dutch businessman Eric Albada-Jelgersma in 1995. Since then, under the management of the enthusiast Alexander Van Beek, who has accomplished huge work both in the vines and cellar, the château has been brought back to former glory.

Giscours’ wines are concentrated, generous and rich, with well-integrated tannins. Particularly seductive when young, they have a potential to age for several years in good vintages.

Château Kirwan Margaux Grand Cru Classé AOC

2019, 2020

Château Kirwan Margaux Grand Cru Classé AOC

Château Kirwan is an estate located in Cantenac, not far from the city of Bordeaux and the river Garonne, in a terroir where man and nature have been living together harmoniously for hundreds of years.
The Château, built in 1751, was one of the few Medoc properties that Thomas Jefferson, the future third President of the United States, visited on his Bordeaux wine tasting trip in France and mentioned in his diaries written in 1780. Mark Kirwan passed away in 1815 and over the centuries it passed from hand to hand through several owners, until, during the early years of the twentieth century, it was acquired by a family of “negociant”, the Schyler and Schroder, which moved to Bordeaux in 1738 and still in business today.
With 40 hectares divided into 46 parcels that wind within the territory of the AOC Margaux, it is clear and obvious how the keystone of this Château, over the years, has always been the terroir and its strong identity. Its wines have a characteristic soft, gentle attack, followed by a very Margaux lacework of flavours. Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot provide Kirwan’s main wine with a multi-layered structure that is very big, tempered by the roundness of the Merlot and the delicate elegance of the Cabernet Franc.

The 2019 joins the list of sumptuous vintages ending in the number 9. Throughtout the growing season, the vinse enjoyed smooth, calm conditions. A perfect balance between the amount of foliage and the quantity of grapes was observed in this vintage.

Château Montrose Saint-Estèphe Grand Cru Classé AOC

2013

Château Montrose Saint-Estèphe Grand Cru Classé AOC

The history of Montrose, written in two centuries by three families of owners, is depositary of their spirit, marked by their quest of excellence and legendary vintages. Pioneers in the Médoc, visionary builders and wise managers, all these families knew how to work and valorise this unique terroir. The estate owes them the foundation on which Montrose builds its image today and its unique place in the world of exceptional wines.

The result of rigorous selection at each stage of production, in both the vineyard and the winery, this great, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon wine is typical of the Saint-Estèphe appellation. Structured and tannic but with all the elegance and refinement of a Grand Cru Classé, with time it develops a delicate and complex bouquet.

Climatic conditions for the 2013 vintage were generally more difficult than in other years, highlighting the importance of the Montrose terroir and microclimate. St-Estèphe escaped the torrential rain at harvest that plagued most of the Medoc and the resulting wines are incredible. An unusual blend as it has no Cabernet Franc ain this vintage.
