2017 Petit Figeac Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé AOC (Château Figeac Saint-Émilion GCC 2nd wine) Château Figeac is one of the leading St. Emilion estates and its wine, with its high Cabernet content, has often been described as the most Médoc-like in Saint-Émilion. It is located in the north-west of the appellation with its vineyards adjoining those of Cheval Blanc. Its 40 hectares of vineyards (unusually for the right bank there is only 30% Merlot in the vineyard with 35% Cabernet Franc and – rare on the right bank – 35% Cabernet Sauvignon) lie on a deep, Médoc-like gravel topsoil (‘Graves’) over a flinty, iron-rich subsoil. Since 2010 Figeac has been managed by Comte Eric d’Aramon and his wife Laure and there has been some serious improvements here recently under winemaker Frédéric Faye. Michel Rolland has been brought in to consult – but not to change the unique Figeac style. As a consequence, the wines produced now seem a little riper and more polished than before but are still fine, pure and classic. A sizeable part of production is relegated to the second label – Petit Figeac. After two stunning vintages in 2015 and 2016 Figeac is one of the hottest properties in Bordeaux. For more info, visit Château Figeac website. VARIETALS 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc VINTAGE 2017 Download Tasting Note

2022 Plaimont Colombelle Colombard-Sauvignon Côtes de Gascogne IGP It all began in the mid-1970s when André Dubosc – a third-generation wine grower – set out to build up the reputation of the wines from their region of South-West France. He and other passionate young winegrowers fashioned local dry white wines (now a PGI: Côtes de Gascogne), revived the Saint Mont appellation and gave a new breath of life to the Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh, made from late-harvested grapes. In 1979, these women and men, who put their heart, soul and know-how into producing the best the terroir could offer, decided to strengthen their foothold by uniting their wine cellars and estates. And so they set up the Plaimont union of cooperatives (“Pl” for Plaisance, “Ai” for Aignan and “Mont” for Saint Mont). A wine-growing area for many years given over to producing Armagnac brandy, Côtes de Gascogne enjoyed a winemaking revival in the late 1970s, when André DUBOSC, founder of the PLAIMONT union, rediscovered the “French Colombard of the Gers”. First created about thirty years ago following the rediscovery of the Colombard grape, Colombelle has since become THE emblematic wine of Côtes de Gascogne. Known throughout the world for its inimitable aromatic style, paired with Sauvignon blanc, Colombelle’s vivacity and freshness offers a mirror image of a region of South-West France niched between ocean and mountain range: exuberant, crisp, and characterful.
