Le Dragon de Quintus Saint-Émilion Grand Cru AOC (Château Quintus 2nd wine)

Château Quintus is the 5th child within the Domaine Clarence Dillon family of wines. Its name is a tribute to the Gallo-Romans, creators of Saint-Emilion’s vineyards, who had the custom of naming their fifth child Quintus.

Le Dragon de Quintus takes its name from the dragon statue that has watched over the estate from its promontory above Saint-Émilion. Born from the same mosaic of terroirs as Château Quintus, it offers an expression driven by vibrant fruit, freshness and finesse. Accessible in its youth, it reveals a more immediate expression of the Quintus terroirs.

The 2012 vintage was uneven from bud break, which was disturbed by a cool, wet month of April, to véraison (color change), which took place over a long period. Fortunately, the months of July and August 2012 were ideal: warm and dry. In the end this 2012 is a truly fine vintage for early-ripening terroirs such as this.
