Antica Vigna was founded in Cengia, a hamlet in San Pietro in Cariano in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica region. It is located in Villa Giona, one of Veneto’s most beautiful residences of the late 15th century, surrounded by cypresses, olive trees, ancient dry-stone walls and vineyards.

Despite this setback, Mariano recognized that the wine was perfect in every other regard, so he chose the name (I’M) Perfetto, for a perfect wine with an imperfect name. This wine is made from 100% estate fruit, which comes from Buglioni’s vineyards in Valpolicella Classico. The vineyards are located at an altitude of about 495ft and consist of dark, clayey soils with a high content of gravel. Grapes are manually harvested, with a portion pressed immediately after harvest, while a small percentage is left in the drying room.

Grapes are manually harvested towards mid-September and are dried until January using the appassimento process.

It was widely used by the Venetians when building their villas. However, the use of other local stones, less prestigious then marble, was wide spread. The antique mines where the stone was taken, were called “preare” in local dialect. The local stones were used to separate the vineyards and also to build the terraces, allowing the vines to grow also on steep slopes.
This Amarone truly expresses the company philosophy, shown through the wine’s balance between elegance and structure. Made from grapes grown in the Valpolicella Classica zone, which undergo “appassimento” (gentle drying) before ageing in large oak barrels for a minimum of 24 months and further maturation of 6-8 months in bottle.
