Château Clauzet Saint-Estèphe Cru Bourgeois AOC

Château Clauzet is an estate located in the northern Médoc peninsula of Bordeaux, France, within the prestigious Saint-Estèphe AOC. The property is highly regarded for producing classic, deeply structured Left Bank Bordeaux wines that offer exceptional value compared to their classified growth neighbors.

The purchase of Château Clauzet completes a dynamic process that began in 2012 at Château La Haye and remains under the Belgian flag, passing into the hands of the Cardon family. Vines from specific plots of land will therefore be used in the production of the wine to guarantee its own identity, vintage after vintage and starting with the 2018 harvest.

Château Clauzet Saint-Estèphe 2017 is a significant vintage for the estate, marking a notable transition in its history. The 2017 growing season in Saint-Estèphe famously escaped the devastating spring frosts that affected the rest of Bordeaux due to its close proximity to the Gironde estuary, yielding a wine that captures the classic, structured elegance of the appellation. And notably, 2017 represents the final vintage under the 20-year ownership of Baron Maurice Velge.
