Pere Anselme La Fiole du Pape Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC

The Legend of La Fiole dates back to 1952 after a meeting between a winemaker from Châteauneuf du Pape and a renowned glass artist from the region. Together they imagined a bottle with curved shapes, reminiscent of the vines of old Grenache vines bent by the Mistral wind. Much more than a simple bottle, it became the ideal bottle for a great Châteauneuf du Pape wine.

La Fiole du Pape is crafted from a diverse range of terroirs across the communes of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Courthézon, Sorgues, Orange, and Bédarrides. The wine is a blend of several grape varieties, primarily Grenache (70%), along with Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault.

The soils are divided into four main types: sand, safre, calcareous sand with flat limestone stones (lauses), and red clay covered with pebbles. Each soil type contributes unique characteristics to the wines: concentration and tannins from the clay, aromatic complexity from the safres, finesse from the sand, and freshness from the lauses. This diversity gives La Fiole du Pape its complexity and smoothness, which is further enhanced by the art of ageing and blending.
