Bernard Magrez brings decades of experience from the world’s greatest wine regions to China, combining French winemaking savoir-faire with the distinctive terroirs and landscapes of Chinese vineyards. Produced with the Legacy Peak estate in Ningxia, at the foot of the Helan Mountains, these wines are shaped by respect for terroir, precise vineyard management, rigorous grape selection and attention to every detail. Their ambition is to express both place and craftsmanship.
The vineyard the rhythm of Ningxia’s continental climate: pruning in October, vines buried in November to protect them from the winter cold, then uncovered in March. The grapes ripen through hot days and cool nights and are harvested in early October. Chi Wen is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, with a 15-day low-temperature maceration followed by six months
in barrel.
Bernard Magrez applies to Chi Wen the discipline that guides his estates in Bordeaux: close attention to each parcel, rigorous grape selection and precise control at every stage, so that the wine expresses its Ningxia terroir with clarity.
