Bernard Magrez brings decades of experience from the world’s greatest wine regions to China, combining French winemaking savoir-faire with the distinctive terroirs and landscapes of Chinese vineyards. Produced with the Legacy Peak estate in Ningxia, at the foot of the Helan Mountains, these wines are shaped by respect for terroir, precise vineyard management, rigorous grape selection and attention to every detail. Their ambition is to express both place and craftsmanship.

Huang Ding 9 is the flagship of the Huang Ding range, created by Bernard Magrez with the Legacy Peak estate in Ningxia. From 2019, his team, including his technical director, travelled to Ningxia several times to define the winemaking style and select the barrels. The result is an ultra-premium Chinese wine made for international wine lovers as well as the domestic market.

Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grown on the estate’s sand and gravel soils. The vines are buried each winter against the cold and uncovered in spring; the grapes ripen through hot, sunny days and cool desert nights that preserve their freshness. Rigorous selection and barrel maturation for 24 months, with barrels chosen together with Bernard Magrez’s team, shape a wine of depth and precision.

The most precise expression of the collection: a single variety, a demanding selection of fruit and barrels, and the vision of Bernard Magrez, owner of four classified Bordeaux estates, applied to the terroir of the Helan Mountains.
