2022 The Hedonist Sangiovese Fruit sourced from the Sellicks foothills on clayey sand and silica soils and unconsolidated sand in McLaren Vale. McLaren Vale experienced a wet winter, but also a mild spring and summer. This created superb ripening conditions from fruit set and flowering through version and ripening. Yields, however, were slightly down across the board. 2021 was touted ‘the best quality vintage so far this century’, but 2022 will give it a run for its money. A civilised vintage created a relaxed picking environment and enabled an ideal balance of sugar ripeness, natural acidity, and texture in the resulting wines. Certified biodynamic, organic vineyards and vegan friendly. For more info, visit The Hedonist website. VARIETALS 100% Sangiovese VINTAGE 2022 Download Tasting Note
2021 The Hedonist Shiraz The fruit for the Hedonist Shiraz is predominately estate grown on our organic/biodynamic certified vineyard situated in the Willunga foothills, McLaren Vale. Fruit is also sourced from the Sellicks Foothills, Blewitt Springs and Kangarilla, all from vastly different soil profiles and aspects across the district. The idyllic St Vincent’s Gulf with it’s cooling sea breeze lies just to the West of the valley. A very dry winter and spring, coupled with record heat and dry conditions throughout summer led to an early and condensed vintage. The conditions lent themselves to smaller berries with good concentration of flavour. “I made it black and silky in new American oak and it’s got that long velvety finish true Shiraz lovers lust after.” – Walter Clappis, Winemaker This wine is made using certified biodynamic and organic vineyards and winemaking practices. 2015 Vivens Margaux (Château Durfort-Vivens 2nd wine) Located between the villages of Margaux, Cantenac and Soussans, the vineyard of Durfort-Vivens seats on the ridge of deep gravels. This great terroir offers early maturity and allows the Cabernet Sauvignon to fully express finesse and silky tannins, a guarantee of freshness and elegance typical of the great Margaux, also in their second wine Vivens. Despite his youth, this Vivens 2015 offers an accomplished expression of richness, elegance and the harmony of a magnificent Margaux. 2015 is the fourth year of applying biodynamic methods to the entire vineyard.
