Gnarly Head wines began with a vision and a vine. In 2004, on a mission to make a serious Zinfandel, winemakers journeyed to Lodi in central California in search of the famed old vine Zinfandel vineyards. Grown in the head-trained, spur-pruned method for over a century, these vigorous gnarled vines produced more ripened red fruit than they had ever seen. They took it as a challenge to create the biggest, boldest Zinfandel they had ever made. The result was authentic, structured wines with a hint of something unexpected. Something Gnarly.
Gnarly Head Chardonnay raises the bar for this classic varietal. This juicy Chardonnay is crafted using grapes from specially selected vineyards in Lodi and Monterey. Chardonnay fruit from the Lodi region contributes ripe, rich fruit flavors with a full mouthfeel, while grapes from Monterey add crisp acidity, balanced with vibrant citrus and abundant tropical flavors.
The name “iLauri” stems from the ancient roots of our birth place, Loreto Aprutino, once covered in Laurus nobilis, or laurel trees.

Molu means West or “where the sun sets”. History tells us that the mapuche saw the stars in the sky over the Pacific Ocean and as the earth was rotating, they would hide in the sea and become starfish. At that time no one knew that the earth was round and turning; back then they believed the stars were falling into the deep darkness of the ocean.

The Mâconnais hills form a set of inclines separated by parallel faults and facing north/north-east or south/south-west. Chardonnay wines for cellaring come from brown limestone or chalky soils and rendzine terrains. The siliceous, clay or sandy soils, often mixed with flat sandstone pebbles, favour the earlier drinking Chardonnay.
In this part of southern Burgundy, the vines form a part of a busy landscape of little hills and valleys that look as though they have been painted in water colours. This charming landscape was celebrated by the poet Lamartine, one of its native sons. The town of Mâcon maintains very close connections with this serene, cheerful, vineyard landscape and its traditions. The 200 hectares of Montagny 1er Cru are located at the southern tip of the Côte Chalonnaise. With a surface area of 34 hectares, “Les Coères” is the largest of the Montagny appellation climates classified as Premier Cru. The vines are located on a plateau as well as on hillsides facing southeast and north. The soils are not very stony and shallow, mainly covered with clay, blue marl and
Gryphées limestone (small fossil molluscs).

The Robin family has owned their vineyard in Chablis since 1836. In 1888 they moved to Chichée, a small village 3 km southeast of Chablis. Today, the family owns about thirty hectares of vineyards in the best locations in Chichée and Chablis.
Louis Robins Chablis places great emphasis on highlighting the fine aromas and the original mineral tones of the Chardonnay grape from the region. The grapes are harvested mechanically and vinified in temperature-controlled steel tanks.
