Taking advantage of the presence of Alessandro Fabiano in town and his son Alberto, from Fabiano winery in the heart of Valpolicella (kindly accompanied by Graham Cranswick of Cranswick Estate), we gave the opportunity to the staff of Wine Republic in Thonglor to understand and to taste these amazing wines of Italy.
The explanation of the “appassimento” method, which make these wines so special, kept the attention of Thais who appreciated the fruity and rounded style of Fabiano Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore DOC 2016, that for simplicity was called “Baby Amarone” by Alessandro; and the more complex and richer bouquet and structure of Fabiano Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2015, a kind of wine so famous all around the world. Both very precise and balanced.
Interesting and funny was the speech of Graham Cranswick about the difference between his Australian Shiraz and the Italian reds: countries are on the opposite sides of the world; climates so different; and even in the closure where screw cap take the stage replacing the classical cork. Cranswick Estate Shiraz 2015 (fresh and fruity) and Cranswick Lakefield Shiraz 2014 (pleasantly spicy and aromatic) were the wines we tried.
So now, not only you know where to find these wines in Thonglor, but you can be sure that the staff there will know what to serve you.
Salute!
