The story of the Viberti winery begins when Cavalier Antonio Viberti buys the Locanda del Buon Padre. It was the year 1923 when Antonio began to produce wine for the guests of his Locanda in the basement of the Buon Padre.

In the mythological geography of Barolo, there are cru that have made history, and then there is Bricco delle Viole. This is a magical place, an elevation that looks out over the mountains and feels the breath of the Alps. It is no coincidence that the Viberti family chose to make wine separately from one of the most special parcels of this vineyard.

The wine comes from a single 0.5-hectare parcel located to the left of the road that divides the cru. Unlike other producers, this parcel is used exclusively for the Riserva and is not blended with other parcels of Bricco delle Viole. It is a unique parcel, intended only for the Reserve, to preserve its identity and unmistakable character.

"If you close your eyes and taste a Bricco delle Viole, you recognize it immediately. It has a scent that is uniquely its own. It is a Barolo that does not want to be powerful, but elegant." - Claudio Viberti

Barolo Buon Padre is more than just a wine: it is the essence of the Viberti family history and a symbol of the Langhe. It was born in 1923, when Cav.Giovanni Viberti, head of the family, decided to produce a special Barolo to be served to the customers of the "Il Buon Padre" inn, founded in 1896. At a time when Barolo was still rustic and little known, this wine was offered to travelers, farmers and merchants in transit, already telling of an authentic and profound identity.

Today, more one hundred years later, Buon Padre remains true to its original spirit: a classic Barolo made from the blending of several historic crus-including Bricco delle Viole, San Pietro, La Volta, San Ponzio, Perno, Bergera, Albarella, Terlo and Ravera-who are carefully selected to create a perfect balance of structure, elegance and longevity. Each cru contributes a unique nuance: the verticality and floral aromas of the highlands, the ematic and spicy depth, the softness and tannic harmony. Vinification, faithful to tradition but conducted with modern rigor, favors aging in large, unroasted barrels and a long rest in the bottle.

The result is a Barolo that expresses vibrant acidity, aromatic breadth and refined tannin. As Claudio Viberti says: "Buon Padre is not just a wine, it is the bond with our family and our land".

Assertive floral aromas of rosehip and violet mingled with fresh red cherries, dark cherry, wild raspberries, lemongrass, and notes of sweet spices, licorice, leather, and tobacco.

PALATE
The hot 2022 vintage displays an upfront core of red fruit countered by firm, sticky, and robust tannins. It has a crisp acidity and a slightly biting, persistent finish.

AGEING
Barolo Buon Padre is aged for 36 months in truncated conical vats of unroasted French oak, with capacities ranging from 25 to 50 hectoliters, depending on the cru of origin.

Some excellent pairings include roasted or braised meats (especially if stewed in Nebbiolo), mushroom risotto and rich pasta dishes tossed with shaved white truff.
