The Kaiserbaum winery, based in Gerolsheim (Palatinate), was named after the purple-blue flowering Paulownia tree (Paulownia tomentosa), which parents Frithjof and Margit Hundinger planted in the courtyard of their winery in 1980 for the birth of their son Gerald. Legend has it that the mystical phoenix bird, which has symbolized immortality, luck and fertility since late antiquity, settles on this tree. The Hammel-Hundinger winery was founded in 1963 by Frithjof Hundinger Senior and has been in family ownership ever since. The winery was given its current name when the 2011 vintage was introduced. Its 25 hectares of vineyards offer a variety of soil types and microclimates. The company's red wines are traditionally matured in wooden barrels, while the white wines are reductively fermented in stainless steel.

In the third generation, Gerald Hammel-Hundinger has taken the family business to a new level. From "easy drinking" to Piwi to ice wine, everything is produced here sustainably and to an extremely high standard. As a reward, the winemaker, who is certified as a “Partner Company for Nature Conservation”, won several gold awards, such as the "Best Winery Germany - Mundus Vini Summer Tasting 2023".

Graf (Count) Johann IV von Katzenelenbogen was one of the founders of the success of the Riesling grape variety. In 1435, at his behest, vines of a then new, white variety called Riesling were planted.

The grapes for its production are grown on shale and alluvial soils located on the banks of the Rhine, under the influence of a mild, almost Mediterranean climate. The wine-making traditions of the region were laid in the monastic farms in the early Middle Ages.
The wine is named in honor of Count Rheingau-Johann IV Katzelenebogen, who in 1435 ordered to plant 22 vines of a new grape variety in one of his vineyards. The name of the new variety was Riesling. So Johann IV inscribed his name in the history of the greatest white grapes, and his possessions in the Rheingau are still called the "Riesling's cradle".

Producing unique Rieslings that capture the distinctive personality of the great vineyard sites on the Mosel, Saar and Ruwer has been the mission at Weingut Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt for the last 650 years. The Gunter-Reh family arrived at the end of the 1970's when they purchased the Imperial property of “Reichsgrafen von Kesselstatt” in 1978. Today, covering 46 hectares, their vines occupy an extraordinary range of superior terroirs along the three river valleys of Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, expressing the individuality and personality of these unique terroirs as effectively and tangibly as possible.

The Sommerpalais Riesling is a lively, fruity and fresh summer wine. Its character derives from its origin, the unique vineyards along the Mosel. The Riesling grapes lend the wine a wonderful fruitiness and hints of mineral.
The estate's manor, Schloss Marienlay, serves as a model for the label, which is designed every year by another child, related to the estate.
