In central Italy there is fossil evidence of grapevines dating back two million years, but the first traces of agricultural activities oriented to grape cultivation itself date back to the end of the Bronze Age. In Abruzzo, the first evidence of wine production stretches back in pre-Roman times, with funerary pottery unearthed in the monumental cemeteries around L’Aquila.

In ancient Rome, an owl was the soul bird of Goddess Minerva.”Gufo” stands for Owl, the mysterious night creature moving at ease through the dark, in all times symbol of knowledge, wisdom and prophecy.

Located in the Montalcino area, southwest of the medieval city, Tenuta Luce Della Vite, one of the estates of the Frescobaldi family, produces some of the best wines of Tuscany and the greatest Italian wines. Literally, Tuscany in a unique light.

Of the 92 hectares of vineyards owned by Luce della Vite, 11 are registered in the “Albo del Brunello di Montalcino.”
This is where the Sangiovese for Luce Brunello is born. This wine is our tribute to this excellent wine born in Montalcino in the second half of the 19th Century. It was the first wine in Italy to achieve, in 1980, the Denominazione d’Origine Controllata e Garantita. Today it is one of the emblems of Made in Italy fine wines. Luce Brunello di Montalcino thus continues a journey of the highest quality inspired by this unique territory and the great wines that are born here.

Owned and run by the Ciacci family, Tenuta di Sesta is recognized as one of the historical estates in Montalcino. The Ciacci's rely on traditional ageing in big oak barrels and renewed vineyard management based on climatic changes and in favor of the territory to obtain wines that best express the territory of Montalcino. The Brunellos in particular are marked by exotic perfumes and rich complexities.

Young and fresh wine a strong character linked to the Montalcino territory: it originates from the union of two local varieties, Sangiovese and Colorino, which blend together giving at first the structure and then the intense color. After ageing in stainless steel vats, it shows a ruby red color, hints of red fruit on the nose and fresh and balanced flavor. A pleasant wine to drink every day because of its freshness and aroma. Even though it is so drinkable and very approachable on the palate, it maintains the typical strong characteristics of Montalcino wines.

In the late 1990s, the Bolfo family decided to breathe new life into the ruins of an old convent located in the charming countryside of Pievasciata, a picturesque village in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga (Siena).
