It was in Latour de France that M.Chapoutier chose to set up his domain. The vines of Bila-Haut and Occultum Lapidem were the first expressions of this terroir. The story continued near a little village called Lesquerde. Steep, craggy limestone, arid soil, battered by the tramontane wind…

The vineyard of Occultum Lapidem is located on gneiss and schistous soils from the Devonian Period and limestone from Kimmeridgian Period.

The story began with Michel Chapoutier, a unique man with a thirst for knowledge, definitely one of a kind. He seeks to discover and reflect the full potential of his terroirs and let the soils express their true character.
This now forms the basis of the M. CHAPOUTIER ethos to reveal the very best of what the soils have to offer.

This domain held a twin appeal for M. CHAPOUTIER: a vineyard already converted to organic in Montfrin in Gard county, and a section in Costières de Nîmes, where the company did not yet own vineyards. The first visit to this beautifully-maintained vineyard was promising, and in 2018, a range of appellations – Côtes-du-Rhône, Côtes-du-Rhône Villages, Costières de Nîmes and Pays d’Oc – have been produced.

The vineyard plots are located in the commune of Montfrin. This wine comes from a soil composed of deep red clay and siliceous pebbles of various sizes brought by the sea some several million years ago.

Merum Priorati, a notable Priorat estate was founded in 2004 and is located in the east of the appellation around the pretty village of Porrera in the hills northwest of Tarragona.

Inici is a 100% estate grown red wine from Merum Priorati winery in Porrera. The grapes are sourced exclusively from the three estates owned by the Bodega, making a total of 29 ha planted with vines. Their vineyards are planted on a slate terrain on the hillsides of Porrera village, a terrain that is locally known as “llicorella”. Inici is a blend with the Grenache as a greater protagonist, a wine that expresses the characteristics of this unique terroir where it comes from and enjoys the prestige of being classified as “Vi de Vila” and certified as “Viticultura Heróica” by the CERVIM, the Centre for Research, Environmental Sustainability and Advancement of Mountain Viticulture, the international organization in charge of promoting and protecting the mountain viticulture as Heroic Viticulture, and certified vegan.

Friends since school, Anthony Aubert & Jean-Charles Mathieu challenged themselves to create a range of wines in their image, by bringing a touch of originality and modernity to their cuvées. Created in 2018, they are part of an eco-conscious approach, more transparent and more sustainable. This commitment is evident from the vine to the bottle with organic cuvées or in conversion.

Carbon neutrality is the brand's primary commitment.
In 2022, 70% of all the cuvées will be certified by an environmental label.
Eco-responsible packaging comprehends recycled and lightweight glass bottles, sustainable caps, labels and boxes.
Sustainable viticulture makes possible to plant hundreds of trees each year works and to safeguard and protect the bees, its environment and the beekeeping heritage of Languedoc.

The plots of this Côtes-du-Roussillon Villages AOP red blend are located on the slopes of the high Agly Valley, composed of gneiss and schist from the Devonian Period.
